Robert Seymour Bridges was born on October 23, 1844, in Walmer, Kent, England. He enrolled in Eton College in 1854 and started writing poetry. In 1863, he enrolled at Corpus Christi College at Oxford University, where he met Gerard Manley Hopkins, who he would remain friends with until Hopkins’s death in 1889. Bridges would also become Hopkins’s literary executor, collecting and editing his friend’s poems for publication after his death.

  

In 1869, Bridges registered as a student at St. Bartholomew’s Hospital in London. After he initially failed his medical exams in 1873, Bridges spent part of his summer studying medicine in Dublin. That same year, he published his first book of poems, Poems (Pickering, 1873), and he received his MB the following year. Bridges continued working at St. Bartholomew’s and other hospitals until 1881, when he retired after contracting a case of pneumonia. He spent the rest of his life in nearly unbroken domestic seclusion, devoting himself to the writing and studying of poetry.

The whole poem is a symbolic figure of beauty.The poet loves all beautiful things with all his heart .Every object is lovable to him.A thing of beauty is joy forever & these things he found in the lap of mother Nature.God has made this eath , it is His creation.We should be faithful & loyal for His unparalleled beautiful things.We are always in hurry, we have absolutely no time to look at those things which are really to be honoured & worshipped.The poet will definitely seek for divine pleasure so as to make all his tomorrow very happy.Every moment, he will try to seek the oppurtunity for seeing the beautiful world created by the Almighty.He never believes in unnatural dreams full of unnatural words.He really wants to be remembered by making himself a man down to earth , who always loves beautifu lthings.

The poem carries  a universal moral lesson that we human beings are likes to live in the lap of Nature which is created by the Supreme Lord.We must to honour the beutiful things created by the God.We are always bounded by the bond of maya.The bond of maya is universal in the universe.This bond of maya is created by the Supreme Lord & we don't like to get detached from the bond of maya.We cannot live without relishing the beauty of God.The relation between God & human is eternal.
