Girish Raghunath Karnad was born on 19 May 1938 in Matheran, Bombay presidency Now Maharashtra India.
His mother krishnabhai was a widow before his bith.
Girish Karnad breathed his last at 06:30 Am on Monday (he was 81)
at a Bangaluru Hospital.
Karnad succumbed to prolonged illness at his residence in Vittal Mallya road Bangalore.
Karnad predominantly worked in South India cinema and Bollywood.
He rose to prominence with his coming of age modern India plyawriting in Kannada.
Girish Karnad who often used History and mythology to tackle contemporary issues, had his work translated into various indian .
He earned his bachelor in arts degree in math and statistics from Karnataka Arts college in Dharwad. Later , he attended the University of Oxford as a Rhodes scholar.
Many of his palys were seen as a statement on contemporary politicals.
Karnad was a vociferous proponents of the freedom of expression and multi culturalism . he was opposed to Hindu fundamentalism .
Karnad's plays dallied with History, Folklore and Mythology, the plyas , mostly written in Kannada, were translated into English and several Indian languages, receiving critical acclaim.
Karnad had made his acting as well as screen writing debut with a 1970 Kannada movie samskara.
The Film, based on a novel by UR Ananthmurthy and directed by Pattabhixima Reddy , won the first president's Golden lotus Awards for Kannada cienam.
